Meet Singer/Songwriter Crystal Lemmer
![]() |
| Courtsey Of Crystal Lemmer |
Crystal is a singer/songwriter from Minnesota with a passion for music weather it may be writing the songs or singing them. After emailing with Crystal I found out just how deep her passion for her music and family really goes. So here goes my Q & A with Crystal and we hope you like it!
Has writing always been a passion of yours? I started up an acoustic duo in February. I started writing songs in April because I wanted to have original music so I could eventually record. I've only been writing for a few months but I love it.
Adam said that you are a songwriter, have you thought about singing the songs yourself? I met Adam because I randomly added him on Facebook for the purpose of networking. I had no idea who he was but I'm really glad I added him!
I am planning to sing as many songs that I can write as possible but I'm definitely open to pitching them to other artists as well.

Is your songs based off of experience? A lot of what I write is based off experience. I also like to write songs that touch on topics that are rarely written about or from a new angle. I get my ideas from thoughts and experiences I have, from a phrase or story I hear that makes me think "Hey! This would make a great song!"
I love doing interviews and post this way because I love hearing/reading what they have to say and learning their process for their song writting and recording styles. I love hearing about how they get their inspirations for their music and I am thankful that these amazing talented artist give me the chance to write about them and their passion. Thank you Crystal for taking the time and giving me what I needed to write this article.

Jason Andrews: Friday Night

Jason Andrews is another Country artist from Iowa and he has a single out called "Friday Night" and let me tell ya I can relate to this song. Not only did he release an aweome song but he has that natural country voice and to me that is what makes the song and the lyrics just amazing. I am a country girl and I was born in West Virginia and I grew up in Palestine, Wv and the bonfires, fireflies, muddin, playing in the woods and in the creeks was the best time of my childhood.

Jessica Jones: Mine

I had recently did a post on Adam Whitehead's new single "Single Mom" and after that post he asked me if I would be interested in covering the new single by Jessica Jones called "Mine". I was honored that he asked me to do this because let's face it I am a country girl through and through and I love putting my 2 cents in. I checked out the song and at first I was like wow this is an awesome love song that gave me chills with the power of her voice.

With lyrics like "I'll steal your heart and you'll steal mine", "I wanna be with you my whole life so take this ring and be my wife" and "40 years down the road now your time has come for you to leave this place" it screams love song about 2 people that has been together forever. It is actually a break up song about 2 people who vowed to love each other for the rest of their lives but unfortantly it didn't end up that way. When I spoke with Jessica she said that she wanted this song to be about love that people can listen to over the years and still get butterflies instead of it being about anger. I honestly love her outlook on that type of situation because things change, people change and life is too short to be angry or hold grudges even though those are true feelings that people feel during a separation. I love how she takes her story, her feelings and puts it in her music and I admire how she considers "Mine" hope for other people and their relationships and that truly is amazing after what she went through. I encourage everyone to go check out Jessica's new single "Mine" no matter what kind of mood you are in. This song can truly go far and her career is going to skyrocket so please go check it out and make sure you follow her on Facebook!

Single Mom by Adam Whitehead Ft. Dalles Jacobus
This is a very interesting way to start this blog but I was scrolling through TikTok(yes TikTok) because with the Pandemic there has not been any shows to write about. However I came across this gentleman named Adam Whitehead and someone had done a duet with his new single "Single Mom" Ft. Dalles Jacobus and I loved it because I mean come on Country music is in my blood. So I decided to follow Adam on TikTok so I can see more of his videos that he post. He soon followed me back and we started talking and hearing the story behind the song I decided that this is one song and country artist I HAD to write about because in a lot of ways a lot of us women can relate in one way or another.
After listening to the song I was in tears as I was a teen mom and got very lucky(yes my high school sweetheart stayed and now we are married and have been together almost 20yrs). Even though my dad was around and traveled for work to provide for our family so my mom was raising 5 children on her own while wheelchair bound and oh boy we did not give her an easy time because we were kids and thought we knew everything. However she never gave up & I have seen her struggle and cry because she was trying her best with what she was given. "Single Mom" is about his mom and it was a way of saying "Thank You" for doing the best she could and for being so strong while raising a young man on your own.
Teen parents have a hard enough time trying to raise their child/children however single parents have to be mom and dad. I know a lot of single parents and see what they go through on a daily basis but they choose to do the best as they can and give those kids what she can.
This song is honestly(in my opinion) a tribute and Thank you to Adam's mother for raising a gentleman and a young lady. With lyrics like "Pinchin Every Quarter and Every Dollar everyday that goes by" and "The coulda, shoulda beens and every teenage sins" really pull at your heart strings. I'm so impressed with this song because you NEVER hear this type of country music anymore. It also shows a standup guy that realizes his mom had done the best as she could have with what she was given at that time in their lives.
His voice rocks and his passion for his music blows my mind. He truly used his passion and voice for an amazing tribute to his mom. I really can not wait to see where he goes with this song(shhh he has another song called Outlawed that's really good too) and where he goes in his career. Honestly anyone that knows me I am not crazy about new country music but I will back this guy and his music a 110% because it is legit and true country. So if you haven't heard of his music then I URGE you to listen to it especially Single Mom and then follow him on Facebook, TikTok and other social medias that he may have and show him and his music love and support.

The Raging Sea By Broadside
Yo! our boys did it again!!! So far in 2020 Broadside released 2 bangers "Foolish Believer & The Raging Sea" and also signed with Sharptone Records(wow). These guys are one of my favorite bands and they always blow me away and keep me guessing with what they will come up with next. They know what they want and where they want to go in this industry and they are not afraid to go after it.
In The Raging Sea you hear the lyrics "Can I make it out, Will I make it out. Is there any point, What's the fucking point" and that makes you wonder what Oliver's mindset was. As I'm a huge fan, after meeting and interviewing him I don't take it as he is depressed but I take it as him writting about past experiences and that will always make for mindblowing songs.
Broadside has an album being released sometime this year(maybe next due to the pandemic) and I can not wait to see where it goes because so far they released 2 singles off their next album "The Raging Sea & Foolish Believer" and those songs are amazing so I'm thinking the rest of the album is going to be just as good or better. Now back to "The Raging Sea" it gives me goose bumps everytime I listen to it. As I love working with Victory Records, I am so happy that Broadside has found their home with SharpTone Records and these 2 singles is just the start with this team.

Selena: 25 Years Later
Wow it is the 25th anniversary of the shooting death of Tejano Queen Selena lets go back and see how she continues to influence our generation as well as the new generation.
We are not going to shine light on the person that took her from this world at the tender age of 23 years old because she does not deserve to have her name spoken and I refuse to give her that attention. Everyone weather you are a fan or not knows the story of Selena's passing and who took her young life. I was 11 years old when it happened and I was so sad just like many of her other fans all over the world. I remember the radio stations playing "I could fall in love with you" and "Dreaming Of You" on the hour EVERY hour after her passing even at the young age of 11.
Even tho how she was taken away from this world continued to circle around her name, no one really stopped to think about what she stood for. A role model, singer, designer, friend, wife and most importantly the best daughter & sister that she could be. She loved her fans, her family, and friends but she also loved her passion for fashion and charities.
Selena had so much more to do in her personal/professional life but we as fans will continue to keep her memory alive and everything she stood for. Selena was a Mexican American singer that started the band Selena Y Los Dinos with her sister Suzette and her brother A.B at the age of 9 years old. Tejano music was not a "female" friendly genre however they did not let that stop them. Selena broke through so many barriars which set the path for our feature artist. Selena Y Los Dinos went on to sign with EMI Latin in 1989 and then releasing her self titled album. Selena has won 67 awards including a grammy for Best Mexican/American album and had 89 nominations.Selena was an inspiration to so many up and coming artists while she was alive and that continues 25 years later. Her music, fashion and everything else she stood for still lives on and she continues to inspire the new generation. As we watched her music still gain popularity in the music world over the years we also witnessed her star being placed on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame which in my opinion should have been done way sooner then it was. This young lady has done so much in her short 23 years then most people do in their entire lifetime and to me that is mind blowing. The world also got to witness her wax figure being revealed and it looks amazing.

Selena has captivated the world with her amazing voice, beauty, kindness and huge heart. As we remember her on the 25th anniversary. Let's remember all of the good that she has done and her music that she left the world with and her legacy instead of how she departed this world. As always our thoughts and prayers are with her family, friends and fans.

Dazyface: Astronaut
If you know who Oh, Weatherly was then you know who their frontman was. Recently they had announced their break up as a band and why most of us fans are shocked and sad because they just clicked as a band and are so good as artist, we are also just as equally interested in what the guys of Oh, Weatherly has in store for us next.
Now just trying to figure out what this song is about and I have 2 different opinions and I wouldn't be me if I didn't. You can take it as a break up song with lyrics "I spaced out on your couch, you told me it was off but was it ever really on" or take it as Blake coming into his new self and saying goodbye to the old Blake(pre Oh, Weatherly break up) with the lyrics "I'm a wreck and you should know that, I can never bring the old me back".
Yes! Oh, Weatherly shaped him as an artist and it also set him up for this new path in his music career. Astronaut definitely shows Blake's new path in music and it works so well.
Dazyface: Astronaut link below!!!!! If this link does not work you can go to our Facebook, Twitter, Instagram accounts to listen and then there is the obvious choice and download SoundCloud.

The Day The Music Died: Buddy Holly, J.P "Big Bopper" Richardson and Ritchie Valens
On Feburary 3rd, 1959 is known as "The Day The Music Died" and there is a really good reason for that because the world lost 3 music legends in a tragic plane crash. Buddy Holly(22yrs old), J.P "Big Bopper" Richardson(28yrs old) and the youngest of the 3 stars Richard Valenzuela A.K.A Ritchie Valens(17yrs old). As we remember them on the 61st anniversary I want to reflect on these guys because not only did they have some pretty cool hits but they also opened doors for so many people in the music industry.
Now I know many of our readers are probably wondering "what could she possible know about these guys or she is too young to write about this". Well you are right I am young and this did happen 24yrs before I was born however I had an amazing mother that taught me so much about music and gave me so much advice on being openminded about every genre of music to the point that we don't care about genre's, we care about the story. I think people has heard the story of the plane crash or maybe they did not depending on how deep your love goes for music but this story has actually always been one that I thought was very interesting to a point. So lets get right to it!
Buddy Holly of Lubbock, Texas was an American singer, songwriter and musician. He became famous in the 1950's in the Rock and Roll era along with Elvis Presley and many other music icons with hits that included "Peggy Sue. Crying, Waiting, hoping and Everyday" among many other songs.

Richard Valenzuela also known as Ritchie Valens of Los Angeles, Ca. was an American singer, songwriter and guitarist. A rock and roll pioneer and a forefather of the Chicano rock movement. Valen's recording career only lasted 8 months and abruptly ended when his life was cut short by a plane crash. However in that short time he had several hits such as Donna, La Bamba and Come On, Let's Go.
As I sit and listen to these 3 guys on their 61st anniversary, I can not help to wonder what else they had to offer the music world but at the same time I am extremely grateful for the music that they left the world with. May they be at peace and their memories continue to carry on and influence the new generations of artists.
