Jessica Jones: Mine

I had recently did a post on Adam Whitehead's new single "Single Mom" and after that post he asked me if I would be interested in covering the new single by Jessica Jones called "Mine". I was honored that he asked me to do this because let's face it I am a country girl through and through and I love putting my 2 cents in. I checked out the song and at first I was like wow this is an awesome love song that gave me chills with the power of her voice.

However after chatting with Jessica about the song and getting a little background about this song and why she chose this song to not only write but to release it as a single and WOW was my reaction to it.

With lyrics like "I'll steal your heart and you'll steal mine", "I wanna be with you my whole life so take this ring and be my wife" and "40 years down the road now your time has come for you to leave this place" it screams love song about 2 people that has been together forever. It is actually a break up song about 2 people who vowed to love each other for the rest of their lives but unfortantly it didn't end up that way. When I spoke with Jessica she said that she wanted this song to be about love that people can listen to over the years and still get butterflies instead of it being about anger. I honestly love her outlook on that type of situation because things change, people change and life is too short to be angry or hold grudges even though those are true feelings that people feel during a separation. I love how she takes her story, her feelings and puts it in her music and I admire how she considers "Mine" hope for other people and their relationships and that truly is amazing after what she went through. I encourage everyone to go check out Jessica's new single "Mine" no matter what kind of mood you are in. This song can truly go far and her career is going to skyrocket so please go check it out and make sure you follow her on Facebook!

Single Mom by Adam Whitehead Ft. Dalles Jacobus

                   Single Mom

This is a very interesting way  to start this blog but I was scrolling through TikTok(yes TikTok) because with the Pandemic there has not been any shows to write about. However I came across this gentleman named Adam Whitehead and someone had done a duet with his new single "Single Mom" Ft. Dalles Jacobus and I loved it because I mean come on Country music is in my blood. So I decided to follow Adam on TikTok so I can see more of his videos that he post. He soon followed me back and we started talking and hearing the story behind the song I decided that this is one song and country artist I HAD to write about because in a lot of ways a lot of us women can relate in one way or another.
After listening to the song I was in tears as I was a teen mom and got very lucky(yes my high school sweetheart stayed and now we are married and have been together almost 20yrs). Even though my dad was around and traveled for work to provide for our family so my mom was raising 5 children on her own while wheelchair bound and oh boy we did not give her an easy time because we were kids and thought we knew everything. However she never gave up & I have seen her struggle and cry because she was trying her best with what she was given.   "Single Mom"  is about his mom and it was a way of saying "Thank You" for doing the best she could and for being so strong  while raising a young man on your own.

Teen parents have a hard enough time trying to raise their child/children however single parents have to be mom and dad. I know a lot of single parents and see what they go through on a daily basis but they choose to do the best as they can and give those kids what she can.
This song is honestly(in my opinion) a tribute and Thank you to Adam's mother for raising a gentleman and a young lady. With lyrics like "Pinchin Every Quarter and Every Dollar everyday that goes by" and "The coulda, shoulda beens and every teenage sins" really pull at your heart strings. I'm so impressed with this song because you NEVER hear this type of country music anymore. It also shows a standup guy that realizes his mom had done the best as she could have with what she was given at that time in their lives.

His voice rocks and his passion for his music blows my mind. He truly used his passion and voice for an amazing tribute to his mom. I really can not wait to see where he goes with this song(shhh he has another song called Outlawed that's really good too) and where he goes in his career. Honestly anyone that knows me I am not crazy about new country music but I will back this guy and his music a 110% because it is legit and true country. So if you haven't heard of his music then I URGE you to listen to it especially Single Mom and then follow him on Facebook, TikTok and other social medias that he may have and show him and his music love and support.

Dazyface: Astronaut

If you know who Oh, Weatherly was then you know who their frontman was. Recently they had announced their break up as a band and why most of us fans are shocked and sad because they just clicked as a band and are so good as artist, we are also just as equally interested in what the guys of Oh, Weatherly has in store for us next.
Blake(Oh, Weatherly frontman) is now going by DazyFace and just shocked all of us with a new song called "Astronaut" from his solo career on soundcloud. The best way to describe this song is it does not sound anything like he has done in the past. It has more of a popish sound and that is great because it works for him.

Now just trying to figure out what this song is about and I have 2 different opinions and I wouldn't be me if I didn't. You can take it as a break up song with lyrics "I spaced out on your couch, you told me it was off but was it ever really on" or take it as Blake coming into his new self and saying goodbye to the old Blake(pre Oh, Weatherly break up) with the lyrics "I'm a wreck and you should know that, I can never bring the old me back".
Yes! Oh, Weatherly shaped him as an artist and it also set him up for this new path in his music career. Astronaut definitely shows Blake's new path in music and it works so well.
Dazyface: Astronaut link below!!!!! If this link does not work you can go to our Facebook, Twitter, Instagram accounts to listen and then there is the obvious choice and download SoundCloud.

Secret Midnight Press Featuring Tessa Violet and Give Me Motion

Here we go and lets get this blog started! get ready for the amazingly, not amazing writing you are about to read. This is gonna be an emotional roller coaster of a blog. So since this is my first post let me introduce myself.
Hi, my name is Riyan and I like music, concerts and my ukulele. Okay now lets get to the good stuff! about a week ago (January 18th), I got to do my dream interview although I wasn't the one asking the questions I still got to be there and meet them. "Who is them?" You may be asking yourself, Well I'm glad you asked! "Them" is the incredible and iconic(maybe not so iconic right now, but they are to me) Jesse Cale and Ashley Dun!
A little over a year ago Jesse and Ashley started a little project called Secret Midnight Press(SMP) a collection of poems that they have wrote over the years. SMP has blown up over the year and has lead up to this, their first ever American book tour which is where we are interviewing Jesse and Ashley. Jesse and Ashley are the most down to earth people I have ever met. After the interview we stayed for the show and it was absolutely amazing.
Lets start with the opener Give Me Motion, as he took the stage he started off with a little bit of a different type of vibe than I'm used to but he gave the crowd energy and I loved it. He was really good and honestly I was surprised and I have nothing bad to say about him.
Up next was Tessa Violet! Before she even started singing, I loved her. With her yellow hair and hat, shorts despite the fact it was a good 30° outside, she made everyone in the room forget about the real world while she was on stage. She was amazing! after the show she even took a picture with me and signed a piece of paper for my friend.

She was really nice and it's really hard to find artists that nice anymore.

As the curtains closed and we hear the rumbling behind it because they were setting up for SMP. The curtains open to a really sick light and a neon sign that was white but shaped as their symbols. As we wait for them to go on stage they have an audio clip of Ashley reading one of her poems. As Jesse and Ashley took the stage Ashley starts to read a couple of her poems and then leaves stage. But oh my god it was beautiful and eye opening as I had never focused so much on someone before. It was truly life changing, this whole experience was.

As Ashley left Jesse started to sing and play piano, I was blown away. As Jesse started reading his poems I just listened. I zoned out a few times just listening to his voice and the words he was saying. After they were done they pulled up a few people and had them read their own poetry and I felt like as they were reading they kind of just gave away a part of themselves to everyone in that room and I love that. They had the courage to come up in front of 50-100 people and read their deepest thoughts to us and for that I have so much respect for them.
Overall this was probably one of the best moments of my life and I don't think I'll ever get an opportunity like that again. I want to give a huge thank you to Jesse and Ashley for making this all happen!
♡Riyan♡

Interview with Jesse Cale and Ashley Dun:

Hey guys! This is Trenton with musikalnotes.com and we are here with Jesse Cale and Ashley Dun of Secret Midnight Press.

Trenton~ Thank you guys for sitting down with us today before your show!

Jesse & Ashley~ You are very welcome

Trenton~ Can you introduce yourself?

Jesse~ Hi, my name is Jesse Cale, I was born and raised here in Columbus, Ohio and I sing and write poetry.

Ashley~ Hi, my name is Ashley Dun I am also born and raised here in Columbus, Ohio and I write poetry.

Trenton~ How did you guys meet?

Jesse and Ashley~ We have known each other as kids and grew up together here in Columbus.

Trenton~ When did you guys realize that this is what you wanted to do?

Jesse~ I think we still don't know what we want to do, I mean we are doing it and we love it. That's the thing about me I just fall in love with everything, you know "oh I want to do this, oh no I don't have a song direction". Expressing that feeling has always been a favorite of mine, so basically we are expressing all of our emotions to the world.

Ashley~ I have always had this journey of always writing and posting it online and then a year and a half ago I started blogging about a bunch of different emotional issues. I feel like that kinda blossomed into "this is my heart" and letting people know that they are not alone. We both(Ashley and Jesse) are emotional people so I wanted to create something for people like us so they feel safe and accepted.

Trenton~ What was your favorite thing you have done since you started this?

Jesse~ We did a combined music tour, we did 5 dates but on our last date we were on the boat in Paris reading poetry to people and then we realized it was our 6th month anniversary as a company and everyone started singing "Happy Birthday" and it was the most magical moments of our entire lives.

Ashley~ Paris is my favorite place already so it was so magical and special. That whole trip was the best thing we have gotten to do so far.

Trenton~ Can you tell us about the Smoothie Revolution?

Jesse~ Oh the Smoothie Revolution! it's really funny because it's a goofy thing because I'm a goofy person I actually make a smoothie every morning on Snapchat.
But it actually comes out of something way more serious and dark but it's helpful. I used to drink a lot 2 years ago and I got really depressed, I wasn't eating right and gained a lot of weight and I was truly unhappy. I woke up one morning and said to myself "I owe myself a better version of my life" and this is the life where I experienced the love from my family, friends and the world and I need to make this one better. I needed to treat myself the way I treated my family and friends. I needed to love myself. So I said "I'll change my diet" and started making smoothie's everyday and since the birth of "Smoothie Revolution" I lost 55lbs and got in great shape and so far over 20,000 people have participated in it.

Trenton~ What would you recommend at Zest?

Jesse~ Oh god! I love everything there, I was one of their first employees, I worked there for 9 months and I still can not decide what I want when I go in. The blue almond is great, Hazel bliss grape juice is insane, the kaleidoscope is great in the summer time over ice is amazing.

Ashley~ Definitely the liquid gold shot is a go to and their toast is so good and it was my favorite when I worked there.

Trenton~ When you were touring with Vesperteen, what was your favorite City?

Jesse~ Oh my gosh every single night because every place had a different vibe and the guys were awesome.

Thank you guys so much for your time! it is very much appreciated and it was an honor to get to sit and talk with these 2 very talented individuals.

In Loving Memory: Introspective

                                        Introspective

In Loving Memory is a catchy band name, right? well it really intrigued me. So I did my research as usual and the sound is different from what we normally listen to BUT it is good and now saved to our playlist. It's hard to find music now days with true meaning and the passion that these guys have and I am impressed to say the least. If you have heard of them then you already know how good they are and if you haven't then YOU SHOULD! I personally love "Weathered & Dreamer".

I wish our readers would give these guys a listen because they 100% deserve it and through their music you can hear their passion and determination. These guys are going somewhere and I can not wait to see where this takes them and hopefully one day be able to see them living their dream in concert and hopefully a blog interview. Thank you for sharing your music with the world and letting us know about it through Twitter.

Sleep On It Album Review

                                                       Overexposed!

Sleep On It released their album on November 3rd, 2017 and we all have to admit that it is one of the best albums of 2017, right? What is your favorite song?
I honestly thought that "Fireworks" was my favorite however I was very wrong! every song has that little bit of something that just grabs you and you relate too. No matter what mood I am in this has been my "go to" album especially when I am in the car at work because I have to get in that mindset and this is the ablum to get you there!

The song list is enough to catch your attention and it was definitely worth staying up to midnight for it's release and listening to the full album. If you have not listened to it because you don't think it's your type of music, give it a shot! and I promise you will NOT be disappointed!
If you still don't think it is for you because it is not your type of music I can assure you that it has just the right amount of emotions in EVERY song. If you check it out and like it then don't miss them on tour with Waterparks!!!!! seen then 2x and we have always had the time of our lives during their set and can not wait to see them again. Check out their Album #Overexposed!!!

Interview with Liquid6teen

                                                          Liquid6Teen

On Wednesday November 1st we got the opportunity to interview Liquid6Teen at their rehearsal spot and it was awesome.
They were very professional and considerate but with a lot of laughs. We asked our questions and in the interviews the artist are allowed and encouraged to add anything that they want and these guys did just that! for a metal band they threw out their other favorite artist from Johnny Cash to Dr. Dre and their favorite movies. We also had to ask the question "how did you get your band name" I mean come on "Liquid6Teen" is a unique name, right? however we didn't get the story behind it but we have thought of the many reasonings behind it. Can you try to guess where they got the name?? We also got to see them practice 4 songs and I can honestly say that the passion they have for what they do is mind blowing and exciting because you know that there is still amazing things to come from these guys. At the end of the interview it took a different turn, as we are Thanking them for taking the time to do this interview with us they also thanked us for our support of the local band scene.

Supporting the local band scene is always on our priority list because the many artist that you like, listen to and hear on the radio everyday has been on the local band scene. Without these artist you would not have all of the fabulous music that is out there today. We also appreciate these guys for taking their practice time to sit down with us and making this af great experience for us and for supporting this blog.

Thank you for inviting us to your practice and for sitting down with us for this blog! Also thank you for dealing with my craziness and having you guys hold up the #IHateJakeWeeks lanyard. My boss supports what I do outside of work and We support him in his #IHateJakeWeeks and it is funny when people ask me what the deal is with my lanyard.

Gossip! Sleeping With Sirens

                Sleeping With Sirens: Gossip!

Who is excited about this new album from your boys in SWS? I know we are and that is why I decided to do the review on it. All thoughts and opinions are those of my own. When the album title was announced I was hooked and thinking this is going to be good.

Gossip- My take on Gossip is that SWS is trying to say "Hey you are going to hear a lot of things about us that is not true".  Now days they media makes things bigger then what it really is rather it be an artist saying something or doing something.

Legends- My take on this song is SWS saying "Look you can say what you want about us but in the end we will still be here and continue to share our music with the world and hope that people will be able to just be them and  what the world thinks they should be"

Empire To Ashes- I'm not going to play by your rules, this is who we are and you don't have to like it. You can try to bring us down but in the end we will still be here and being true to who we are.

Cheers- It does not matter how you chose to live your life, you are important in this world so raise your glass and cheer for what you have accomplished so far in your life.

Trouble- Feeling like they have seprated their selves from the people that believed in them the most  and they don't know how to get back to that support system but they will not give up on trying.

One Man Army- This song is screaming the message about how Kellin feels! He may be the frontman/voice of SWS but in the end this band is made up of  5 guys(Kellin, Justin, Gabe, Nick, and Jack) and all of these guys make it work! The rest of the guys need to be credited as well.

Closer- My take on this one is them saying "We have been burned, brought down ect but hey we are STILL here"

Hole In My Heart- I take this one as SWS over coming depression because in all honesty everybody has had a bit of depression in their lives and it's nothing to be ashamed of because there is people that care and that's where the course comes in "It's okay, show them who you are. Everybody hurts, everybody's got scars, It's okay, standing in the dark. Shine a little light from the hole in my heart".

I Need To Know- Everyone goes through break ups, Right? it's apart of life so why not talk about it even though it may hurt but there is a reason for that break up to happen. God has a plan for us all and he will never give you more then you can handle.

The Chase- I believe is saying hey I'm not here for the media, I'm here for the our fans that believe  in us and our music. a

War- Now it feels like they are getting a little insecure by saying "A war that can't be won" it's saying that society is the war and as long as we hide behind our fears then the bad in this world has won.

This album is the medias worst nightmare because it is telling them "Hey, we do not care what you say about us. We are going to continue to do what we love to do no matter what you throw our way and we will win."
When SWS decided to name the abum "Gossip" they really nailed it! They have addressed the issues in the world today and then some. Their sound is softer opposed to their previous sound and guess what? no matter how much their sound changes it is STILL amazing!!!!!! Great Job guys!!!!!

An Amazing Night Of Music With State Champs, Homesafe, Sleep On It, Bearings

                         What An Amazing Night!

So going to concerts is always a blast especially when the headlining band is one of your all time favorite bands. Then you get to hear new music from bands you never heard of because they happen to be the opening bands and that can go 3 ways Great, Mutual or bad and luckily we maybe experienced a "bad" performance a couple of times. So now I'm just going to dive into this blog about these amazing bands so I hope you enjoy!

                                                  Bearings!

Bearings is a band out of Ottawa, Canada and this band is special! I am shocked that we have not heard more about them but I'm so glad that we actually got the chance to see them because they are really good. Their energy on stage and being able to grab the audience attention with the first song and keeping that attention for the rest of their set is a huge deal. Out of all the concerts we have been to, I know from experience that energy, entertainment, and overall good music is the key. We have at times could not get into the music or performance and just started playing games on our phones HOWEVER this is NOT one of those bands! This band had our attention throughout their whole set and we absolutely loved their performance. I truly look forward to seeing the guys again if they ever come back to Ohio(crossing my fingers). I also had the chance to meet the singer Doug after and he was a really nice guy, down to earth and most importantly he thanked us for coming out to see them play. He knew that people were there for State Champs but was really greatful that people was there early enough to see their set. these guys are going to a whole different level! Stay kind, sweet, humble and thankful because that makes you stand out beyond your fantastic music

                                             Sleep On It!

Sleep On It is another great band, this was actually our 2nd time seeing them and I have to admit we were not disappointed either time. They know how to make it exciting and it keeps you wanting more from them, they are sweet and down to earth but most importantly they are passionate about what they do and what not a better way to bring all different types of people together then through awesome music! We are just counting down to concert #3 with these kick ass guys! Stay humble guys and continue to put on kick ass shows and continue to show your appreciation for your fans.

                                           HomeSafe!

HomeSafe is another band we have not heard of before this concert and their sound is unique and very interesting. They were entertaining and kept you guessing as to what the next song in their set was going to sound like. We were impressed with their performance and we will be watching to see what the future holds for these talented young men, Great job guys and can not wait to see ya guys again!

                                  State Champs!!!

Now the reason we got to see these 3 other amazing bands, State Champs. It's no secret that my kids and I are huge fans of State Champs and that is because they are amazing. Their music is fantastic, their performance are very entertaining, and they show mad love and appreciation to their fans, which is a big deal. We have had the pleasure of seeing these guys 5 times since 2016 Vans Warped Tour and never once was we disappointed so as long as they keep coming back to Ohio or close to it, we will be there! We also had the pleasure of meeting Ryan and Derek @ Fan Day 2017 and they are truly amazing guys to get to talk to and their passion for their music and their fans is truly mind blowing. I have 3 kids 16 year old son and a 14 year old daughter which was with me on fan day but their 5 year old little sister did not get to go because it was in Cleveland BUT Derek was so kind to record a video for her saying hi. Now I know your probably thinking "She is 5, what does she know about State Champs, Right? she has a lot of knowledge about State Champs, Sleeping With Sirens, Pierce The Veil ect and she attended the APMA'S Red Carpet 2016 because it was here in Columbus, Ohio. She loves State Champs and she knows their songs and her favorite is secrets. She watches the video from Derek at least 10 times a day(I'm not kidding) and I am very thankful that he took the time to make her feel special as they do with all of their fans.
They put on amazing shows(even the ones that get shut down for 5 minutes at Fan Day 2017). We are ready for them to hit the studio again because hey new music = a lot more concerts with these bad asses! Also Mr. Ryan Scott Graham(Speak Low If You Speak Love) will be on tour with Neck Deep and in Ohio in February. So if you need more of a State Champs fix before they hit the road again go check out Speak Low! There is no doubt that these guys are genius's and we are already missing these guys(hurry back to Ohio) and their tour is not even over yet. Thank you guys once again for another kick ass show!

Soul 2 Soul: Tim McGraw and Faith Hill

Soul 2 Soul: Tim McGraw & Faith Hill

So every music lover should know the love story between 2 of country's greatest artist of all time. Tim & Faith started when Faith was signed up to open for Tim. The pair married in 1996 and that's where this storybook romance started. However the question is, how did they make it work after 20 years together, 3 kids and of course crazy media gossip. Well my friend and I went to see them when they came to Columbus, Ohio and after seeing them together on stage, it was very clear.

The Chemistry, Love and Respect is the key! they clearly have a bond that can not be broken and they showed that through the whole show. They switched between their duets and their solo music which was a great added touch. They are amazing in concert together and I would definitely see them again if giving the chance. There was never down time, it was all entertainment from the time they went on stage to the very end. So if you have the chance I highly recommend going and check them out and definitely check out their new song "Speak To A Girl" if you haven't already, just click the link to see their new video!  https://youtu.be/FD-iFa5IjB8

Throw Back Thursday Ft Twenty One Pilots

Here we go with this week's "TBT" post, Exciting right? Well this week I asked my son on his thoughts for this week's post and he wanted it to be Twenty One Pilots because on the September 18th it will be exactly 2 years since we seen them for the first time in concert. My son's birthday is August and all he wanted was TOP tickets but as every TOP fan knows Josh and Tyler is from Columbus Ohio and that show sold out fast so we did not get the tickets. So one day my husband was at work and WNCI radio station in Columbus was giving away tickets and he gave it a shot and he won and it was clear who was going to that concert my son and I because my husband and daughter was not a fan at that time. When telling my son "Your dad won tickets and you are going to the TOP concert" his reaction was priceless.

I am pretty sure that it really didn't hit him that it was actually happening until we got to
to the venue, in the seats and Tyler and Josh was standing on the stage in front of us. That concert
was one of the best shows, they connected with the fans even the ones far away and their energy just drew you in and kept your attention. Their music speaks to people and they make sure you know that no matter what you are going through there is always people there that love you. They really do put on an amazing show and they don't take the fame to their head and when you get artists that is as grounded and level headed then these are the ones you want to pay attention too.
I am grateful that I was able to share this experience with my son and it was truly an amazing show and we can not wait to see what they have in store for their fans on their next music adventure.

Josh even shopping at Autozone for his car needs(Truly down to earth)

My son Trenton and his friend Riyan got to meet Josh and Tyler
back in June(Yes she was crying)
